Writing a book was not something on my bucket list. It was only after I started working with women navigating menopause that I realised the deficit in information was pervasive.
Following the interviewing of 20 women in Ireland on their experiences and understandings of menopause and the subsequent publication of “Silence, Taboo and Midlife Women” (my M.A. Thesis in 2020)Ireland entered a third lockdown in January 2021.We were in lockdown for almost four months. This provided the catalyst for the writing of the book which was published and launched in October 2021-on the 18th to be specific World Menopause day!
On the week of the launch the book became an amazon best seller in the U.K.,AUSTRALIA and the USA on kindle. By December the book was available on the Barnes and noble and Walmart websites in the USA.
Menopause is universal and global. Midlife Women Rock is the first researched based menopause book published in Ireland this century.
I have really enjoyed promoting the book to date on radio, newspapers, magazines, global podcasts(UK, USA, South Africa, Australia and Spain) and on panel discussions. My passion for this subject enabled me to keep writing.
The book is a covid legacy and something I can pass on to my daughters and granddaughters.
Available across all amazon platforms and can be ordered or bought at the Book Centre Waterford, Ireland.
