I love talking about perimenopause and menopause. One sheet
Throughout covid we were all on zoom or Micro soft teams delivering webinars and talks. So lucky to have had these platforms. However, since the first of March it has been wonderful to be back delivering at in person events. The energy in the room is incomparable to zoom! I love the interaction that face to face meet ups bring.
As menopause has been a taboo subject for too long,- the online platform suited many uncomfortable speaking openly. This is completely understandable however, as an educated and informed society we need to bring menopause mainstream. Normalising the conversation as we do pregnancy has to be the goal.
We need to remember that it was only in the 1970’s that workplaces and policy makers began to recognise pregnant women as requiring support. Women aged 50 and over are the fastest growing cohort in the workplace today. Menopausal women need to be recognised and supported by governments and organisations. They are an INVALUABLE asset in thriving economies.
It is wonderful to see “menopause friendly accredited workplaces” emerging in the UK with the first in Ireland to be announced in the coming months. The whole of society will benefit as a result.
